Arndorfer Handcrafted Gruner Veltliner

Organic and natural Gruner Veltliner from Austria.

A family-owned wine producer located in the Kamptal region of Austria, Arndorfer are known for their commitment to organic and biodynamic farming practices. Over the years, the estate has gained recognition for its focus on terroir-driven wines, particularly Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. The winemaking team, led by the passionate siblings, emphasises minimal intervention in the cellar, allowing the natural characteristics of the grapes to shine through. With a strong emphasis on sustainability, Arndorfer has cultivated a reputation for producing wines that reflect the unique climate and soil of their vineyards, appealing to both traditionalists and modern wine enthusiasts.

The Handcrafted Grüner Veltliner showcases the classic characteristics of the cool-climate loving Grüner grape. With notes of green apple, pear and a hint of white pepper, there are also subtle herbal undertones, reminiscent of freshly cut grass and a touch of citrus zest.

The palate reveals flavours of ripe stone fruits, such as peach and apricot, alongside the expected green apple and a steely minerality that reflects the terroir. The finish is clean and dry, with a lingering spice that invites another sip.

The grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed, with fermentation occurring in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh fruit character. The wine is then aged on its lees for a short period, which adds texture, making it feel rounder than most other Grüners. It’s bottled unfined and unfiltered, so some cloudiness may occur.

Grüner Veltliner is one of those incredibly food-friendly varieties, pair it to anything from Asian cuisine to seafood to cheese.
