Astral de Chateau Puybarbe
Balanced and amazing quality for price Bordeaux blend
The Astral de Chateau Puybarbe offers tremendous value and is packed with opulent ripe cassis and dark berry fruit, hints of spice and wafts of vanilla. The wine is predominantly Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and small amounts of Malbec and Cabernet Franc in support. The grapes are grown sustainably without the use of harmful pesticides in the vineyard.
Chateau Puybarbe produces well-balanced wines that express their terroir mixing tradition and modernity. The vineyards are all farm sustainably and have an average age of around 30 years. The 41-hectares comprises Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Château Puybarbe is in the heart of the appellation of “Côtes de Bourg”. Three parallel lines of hills, along the Gironde estuary (just opposite the Margaux appellation in Médoc) gave this wine region its nick name of “Small Switzerland of Bordeaux”. Côtes de Bourg is one of the oldest Bordeaux AOCs (“Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée”). It is situated 35 km north-west of Bordeaux on the Right Bank of Garonne and Dordogne rivers around the town Bourg-sur-Gironde.
