Atance Bobal

From the foothills of Valencia comes this grippy organic red.

All it takes is one sip of Atance for you to see its charm, brimming with character and fruit.

Pure Bobal from vines planted in 1975 at an altitude of 800 metres above sea level. These conditions together with the sandy soils in which the plants struggle to find sustenance, ensure the resulting wine displays its own personality whilst still being elegant.

Fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, the wine matured in large French oak vats for three months. It is cherry red in colour and has a high aromatic intensity with heaps of red fruit. There is quite a bold initial grippiness, but do not be scared, the enveloping tannins smooth out, leaving you with a harmonious finish.

What is organic wine?

What is organic wine?

Organic wine is wine made from grapes grown in accordance with the principles of organic farming. This excludes the use of artificial chemical fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and herbicides.

Previously, “Made with Organically Grown Grapes” was legally the only claim possible, but regulations introduced in 2012 now allow the whole winemaking process, from harvest to bottle, to be certified by law.

The definition does still vary from country to country though. In the US, no additional sulfites may be added to any organic product, including wine. In the EU, added sulfites are allowed, though there are limits on how much. Most other wine-producing countries do not have their own standards for organic wine and observe the standards of the nation importing the wine.
