The Estate was founded in 1974, Avignonesi is the leading winery in the Montepulciano area of Central Italy. The wines made by them are appreciated by critics and wine lovers worldwide, and the winery is also renowned for the quality and profile of the wines in their range.
Avignonesi aim to work conscientiously with the environment in mind. Focusing on the vineyard as an ecosystem built on organic and biodynamic agriculture. Their sustainable distribution systems and consumer education show their commitment to a transparent work ethic driven by wine and the environment. The fermentation was spontaneous with the use of indigenous yeast. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration on the skins lasted from ten to twenty days, depending on the individual lots. Malolactic fermentation took place in large, Slavonian oak casks.
Rosso di Montepulciano is delicately spicy, with intense aromas of red berry fruits and hints of linden in flower with an elegant touch of violets. The flavour is smooth, complex and long lingering, expressing a beautiful harmony between freshness, acidity and sweetness. With its abundant, upfront fruit and bright acidity Avignonesi’s Rosso di Montepulciano is a light and refreshing example of Sangiovese from Central Italy.
