Blank Canvas 'Reed' Chardonnay

A classic New Zealand Chardonnay from travelling winemaker Matt Thomson. Richly textured and complex from fermentation by wild yeasts in oak barrels, followed by a further 10 months maturation. 

Blank Canvas is a collaboration between Master of Wine Sophie Parker-Thomson and her husband, award-winning, international winemaking consultant Matt Thomson. With over 40 years of collective experience in the global wine industry, they produce small-batch fine wines from exceptional single vineyard sites throughout New Zealand, under this ‘art-meets-science’ project. Matt has worked over 50 vintages in numerous wine regions worldwide. He has also worked with David Gleave since 1994. Sophie travels extensively in Europe and has worked with Matt since 2011, leaving her career in law behind her. This international experience is the founding inspiration for Blank Canvas.

This is an incredibly textured wine that boasts a bounty of fleshy white nectarine and orchard fruit, and a grainy, honeyed richness, perfectly balanced by vibrant acidity and notes from oak ageing. A complex and layered wine that is perfect for drinking now but will also benefit from cellaring.
