Bremerton Coulthard Cabernet Sauvignon

Full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon.

Bremerton Vineyards is a family-owned company in Langhorne Creek in South Australia and is now run by winemaker Rebecca Wilson and her sister Lucy. They have focussed the family's wine range on high quality and individualistic wines.

This is a classic cabernet from South Australia displaying wonderful fruit flavours of blackcurrant and blackberry but with a typical green pepper savoury undertone. Full bodied with high acid and high tannins this is a robust red that will stand up to even the mightiest of steaks or equally perfect with grilled mushrooms. This wine shows the pure varietal expression of a Langhorne Creek Cabernet, one of the original red varietals that established the region. Individual Cabernet Sauvignon parcels were fermented separately in small open fermenters to allow excellent extraction of colour and flavour. Each batch was matured in a combination of new and older French and American oak barriques for 18 months.

Bremerton Vineyards are a member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia. Bremerton aims to be at the forefront of dealing with environmental issues within the wine industry and implements best practice principles on a wide range of environmental concerns including: caring for native wildlife, recycling winery waste products, water conservation policies, minimising pesticides and the use of sulphur, and working towards neutralisation of their carbon footprint.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most well-known grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon makes some of the world's finest red wines, whether on its own or blended with other varieties. Surprisingly, it is a natural cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc from Bordeaux, France.

Cabernet Sauvignon is loved for its high concentration and age worthiness. The intense flavour and high tannin content make it the perfect partner to rich grilled meats, peppery sauces, and dishes with bold flavours.

Old World Cabernet Sauvignons, aka your classic French Bordeaux bottles, tend to have a brooding character, with robust tannins adding structure and blackcurrant fruit shining through. In the New World - California and the southern hemisphere (Chile, Argentina, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia) - Cabernets tend to develop a sense of fullness and weight. Rich in blackcurrant, mint and occasionally green bell pepper flavours along with firm tannins.
