Cantina Di Venosa Basilicata Bianco
A crisp aromatic Italian white wine.
A light straw-yellow in colour. Intense notes of lychee and pineapple with a hint of fennel. On the palate the wine is crisp and fresh with a mineral-like texture leading to a surprisingly long finish. Ideal paired with fish, salads or poultry.
The Cantina di Venosa Cooperative was established in 1957 and is situated in the charming village of Venosa in the Basilicata region of southern Italy. Today the company has 350 members who between them manage 800 hectares of vineyards, all planted on the rich, volcanic soils of the Venosan hills.
This mountainous region is one of Italy's forgotten treasures, particularly concerning its wines. The co-op specialises in local, indigenous grapes including Aglianico for the reds and Malvasia for the whites. This white is mainly Malvasia with a splash of Chardonnay and makes for a very approachable 'glugger'.
