Cantina di Venosa Basilicata Rosso
Ruby red in the glass with concentrated aromas of plums and blackberries.
The Cantina di Venosa Cooperative was established in 1957 and is situated in the charming village of Venosa in the Basilicata region of southern Italy. Today the company has 350 members who between them manage 800 hectares of vineyards, all planted on the rich, volcanic soils of the Venosan hills.
This mountainous region is one of Italy's forgotten treasures, particularly concerning its wines - crisp, aromatic whites and intensely fragrant reds. The co-op specialises in local, indigenous grapes including Aglianico for the reds and Malvasia for the whites. This intense red is 100% Aglianico, aromatic with notes of spice and woody herbs, making it a great accompaniment to robust meat or tomato dishes.
