Cantine Povero Priore Barolo

A prime example of why Barolo is considered the best expression of the Nebbiolo grape.

Known as the king of wines and wine of kings, Barolo is the Nebbiolo-based wine par excellence. Priore is an energetic and prestigious Barolo. The colour is an intense garnet red, while the elegant bouquet balances the powerful tannins and brisk acidity of the palate. It showcases notes of violet, cassis, wild rose, cinnamon, anise and leather. You can also find reminiscences of the Langhe region, such as truffles, dried mushrooms, and hazelnuts. The palate is warm, dry, earthy, and full.

Cantine Povero is in the heart of Piemonte, where Roero, Langhe, and Monferrato meet. The roots of their wines lie here, in a sequence of vineyards in full sunlight, from sunrise to sunset. The result is an authentic wine which manifests the vitality of the terroirs it belongs to.

The seasons of the Piemonte include fresh breezes and light rains in the spring, hot humid weather in the summer, thick fog in the fall, and snow in the long winters when the vineyards finally rest. The climatic variety is a perfect match for the soil variety, which embraces marine sands and clayey marls.

Cantine Povero`s history stretches back almost two centuries. They combine both their expertise and love of wine into there work and it shines through the quality of their wines. Certified as organic, Cantine Povero is fully committed to ensuring the quality and health of all their vineyards. They nourish the vines with compost, manure, and cover crops like legumes, red clover, and other plants sown to protect and enrich the soil. In the spring, they cut to feed the vine.
