Caparzo Rosso di Montalcino

Great value entry into the wines of Tuscany's Caparzo.

The Caparzo estate covers 200 hectares, including 90 hectares of vineyards where 9 are specifically designated for Brunello. Owning vineyards in Caparzo, La Casa, La Caduta, Il Cassero, and San Piero Caselle, which constitute almost all of Montalcino's best areas, is a defining feature of the Caparzo estate. This selection of premium vineyards allows Caparzo to draw the finest fruit from every vintage.

This Rosso is a fantastic, more affordable alternative to Brunello, with fruit sourced from different vineyards and then blended, bringing lots of fresh fruits and softer tannins. Lovely fresh raspberries, cherries and strawberries with hints of rose and delicate savoury notes. Juicy but with a zesty, energetic streak of acidity that keeps the wine fresh and lively. This is a classy wine from one of the region’s most prestigious producers.

Sangiovese

Sangiovese

Italy’s most planted black grape and the pride of the Tuscan wine region, Chianti. Sangiovese is commonly labelled by its regional name rather than by variety, and you’ll often find it blended with other black grape varieties.

Sangiovese is a bit of a chameleon, taking on different stylistic expressions based on where it grows. From the delicate floral strawberry aromas of Montefalco Rosso to the intensely dark and tannic wines of Brunello di Montalcino, Sangiovese wine has something for everyone.

Producing dry wines with high tannins and high acidity, Sangiovese offers a wide range of tastes from very earthy and rustic to round and fruit-forward. Regardless of where it’s grown, it always has red fruit flavours (red cherry, red plum) with notes of tomato and dried herbs.
