Casa Relvas Ciconia Tinto
Smooth Portuguese blend at a wallet-friendly price.
Casa Relvas is a family run winery in the heart of Redondo, Alentejo. A hot, dry, inland region of Portugal that’s known for its vast plains, rolling hills and agricultural landscapes. With the three estates - Herdade de São Miguel, Herdade de São Miguel de Machede and Herdade da Pimenta - Casa Relvas have the capacity to produce a staggering amount of wine annually, with much of it exported out to over 30 countries worldwide. This doesn’t mean that the quality is any less but explains how they can produce wines that taste this great for the price.
Ciconia Tinto is a blend of Toruiga Nacional, Aragonez (Tempranillo), Syrah and other varieties. It combines approachability with Alentejo's most likeable features of rich, soft fruit, with a bit of roast and dried fruit notes too. Smooth, fruity, easy, affordable. Need we say more? And for the twitchers amongst you, Ciconia is the Latin genus for the stork. White storks are common in this region of Portugal, and they’re known to breed in the area.
