Chevanceau Vermentino
A crisp and zesty Southern French Vermentino which is easy drinking in style and packed with peachy flavours, floral hints and citrus zest
Unpretentious, fruit-driven, Gallic in looks - hinting towards la Belle Époque and Gallic in taste, Chevanceau represents the very essence of French winemaking. Humble in origin, but certainly not modest in taste. A perfect aperitif - simple, but with just enough body and structure to stand up to a hearty dish.
The fruit is sourced from carefully selected vineyards across the South of France. The area has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters, with most of the rainfall occurring during spring and autumn. Dry, continental winds from the northwest bring cooling influences to the vineyards, which help to reduce disease pressure. This wind is interspersed with warm winds from the south, which bring moisture to the vines. Each vineyard site has its own terroir characteristics which add subtle complexity to the resulting wine.
The Vermentino grapes were fermented with selected yeasts in temperature controlled stainless steel vats which retained the freshness and aromatic character. The wines were then rested in stainless steel, without oak influence to capture the purity of fruit.
