Christmas Party Wines

Wines for festive gatherings need to be a few things:

• Inexpensive – parties are often about quantity. The quality still needs to be there, but you don’t want to be wincing every time a bottle gets opened. Even if you do have the budget for Margaux and Meursault, it’s highly unlikely that all your guests will appreciate it in the same way. Save your pennies and keep those for yourself on the big day.
• Inoffensive – whilst you might like to drink nothing but barrel aged Sauvignon Blancs, your guests probably won’t. Stick to easy-going wine styles and grape varieties to keep everyone happy.
• Nailable – you need wines that are gluggable, or ‘glou glou’ as the French may say. Ones that make you pour another glass, not reach for the Rennies.
• Not too heavy – if you’re opening bottle after bottle, wines need to be on the lighter end of the spectrum. When you’ve “accidentally” had 8 glasses of wine in a short space of time, you don’t want it to have been a 15% ABV powerhouse. Literally no one will thank you for that the following day.

So join us for this event and you’ll leave with lots of tricks (wines) up your sleeve for next time you’re hosting.  

Our 'Festival' tastings are standing events that are approximately 2-2.5hrs long, so please bear this in mind upon booking. We do have a limited number of high stools available should you need a seat, but please let us know in advance if you require one. We also tend to show quite a few wines, so recommend eating beforehand. 

We split you into two or three groups for the tasting, so if you have friends/family who have booked separately, please let us know that you'd like to be put together! 

Tickets to our tastings are non-refundable. If you can no longer attend, do get in touch as we often keep a cancellations list for those who missed out on tickets. If that’s not the case, we’ll always try and help re-sell them through social media (no guarantees). Alternatively, feel free to pass them to friends or family – we only need the name of the person who booked for entry on the night.
