Clos La Roquete CNDP Blanc
A brilliant White Chateauneuf-du-pape. Full of quality and character
When the Brunier family bought la Roquette in 1986, no one really realised the potential of this extraordinary 40-hectare estate. The Domaine is made up from several fragmented parcels of very old vines (average age 45 years-old), situated in three distinctive zones on the rocky plateau to the north of the town of Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
Domaine la Roquete Blanc Clos la Roquete is made from a blend of 33% Clairette, 34% Grenache Blanc, 33% Roussanne. The vines were planted in 1987. The terroir is sand clay, rocks and stones. The grapes are hand-picked, with double sorting at the vine, then a third sorting in the winery. Pneumatic pressing, then static settling. 25% of the wine is vinified and aged tank, while the remaining 75% in aged in a combination of French oak barrels and demi-muids for 8 months before bottling.
The white wine of Domaine la Roquete is best served with a myriad of different seafood dishes, shellfish, crab, lobster, sushi, sashimi, chicken, pork and veal, as well as Asian cuisine.
