Croix Canon St Emilion Grand Cru
Fashion meets wine in this beautiful Bordeaux Grand Cru
The Croix Canon is extremely moreish blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Initially it bursts with notes of sweet dark cherries and rosehip. The palate is pure and fresh with plenty of wild berry character. It’s utterly seductive, with no hard edges, just beautifully textured, floral infused fruit. An absolute delight!
Canon is a 1er grand cru classé, located in the appellation of St Emilion. The origins of Chateau Canon can be traced back to the early 18th century when Jean Biès planted vines around the church of Saint-Martin. Canon is planted on limestone-based soils, situated south-west of the Saint Emilion limestone plateau with Chateau Magdelaine lying to the south and Chateau Clos-Fourtet to the north. It was acquired by Chanel in 1996 from Eric Fournier who had run the property since 1972. After the change of ownership and re-vamping of the cellars, Canon has successfully started to regain its former glories.
Château Canon stands as an imposing figure at the top of Saint-Emilion. Surrounded by low walls, it feels like it is bathing in the sunshine. Its tower, perched on the limestone plateau, gazes at the nearby steeple. The area is brimming with life. Vines run all along the valley. Bursts of laughter and precise activities are exchanged and bounce off each other. People and the land join forces to form a single unit.
