Daschbosch Old Vine Hanepoot
Honeyed, orange blossom sweet wine from South Africa.
Set in the sun-drenched Breedekloof region, this historic vineyard is one of the oldest in South Africa, thought to have been planted in 1883. The grapes might be few, but each berry is dense with extraordinary fruit concentration, bearing an enticing perfume for which this Muscat variety is known.Amongst the vast South African landscape of Breedekloof, DaschBosch’s gnarly old vines create elegant wines with a unique character.
This small yet powerful dessert wine is made from 100% Hanepoot (Muscat d'Alexandrie), which comes from vines that are over 120 years old. Yields are tiny, but the small bunches carry grapes that are dense, concentrated and beautifully perfumed. Juice is fortified with a pure spirit, and the wine spends up to 6 months maturing in barrel.
With flavours of sultanas, candied citrus peel and orange, it’s like a fruitcake in a glass.
