Delavenne Pere & Fils Lumiere Blanc de Blancs
Blanc de Blancs made from a single vintage year from the sub-region of Cramant. Dazzling, rich and fruity.
A ‘Récoltant-Manipulant’ (meaning it is a Champagne from a grower-producer), family-owned since 1920 and with nice hectares of Grand Cru vineyards in Bouzy, Ambonnay and Cramant. The estate’s average vine age is fourty-five years, and the vineyard is managed in a holistic way without the use of herbicides or chemical fertilisers. Growth between the vines is encouraged and the grapes are entirely hand-harvested. Jean-Christophe Delavenne is President of the "Échevins de Bouzy" (fraternal order of Champagne Producers from Bouzy). Champagne Delavenne's elegant cuvées are served at many Michelin Starred restaurants across Europe.
Maintaining purity is a key philosophy that goes into making Delavenne’s wines. Focusing on using techniques that preserve all the natural attributes and energy of the wine, unaltered. Grapes are taken from a single village, Cramant, and a single harvest, 2017. Native, wild yeasts cause fermentation while stainless steel tanks are used to preserve the wines primary character.
Delavenne’s uses a homemade liqueur made of vintage wines and pure cane sugar from the French Islands at the dosage stage to create a desired wine. As it is a Blanc de Blancs, the wine is made completely with Chardonnay.
Lumiere Blanc de Blancs has a delicate nose and a sparkling elegance. Aromas of fresh fruit, honeysuckle and orange blossoms. Combined with a silky mouthfeel with notes of green apple, lemon curd and minerality. Fresh, harmonious, balanced with a generous finish. Perfect as an aperitif or paired with sushi, shellfish, lobster, fried chicken or clams.
