Domaine Bott Geyl Pinot Gris Les Element
A biodynamic and organic Pinot Gris from a fabulous Alsace producer
Virile, intense and suave with notes of smoke, tobacco, honey and candied fruit with finesse. This Pinot Gris is a hallmark for the beautiful and elegant richness Alsace can create. A perfect choice to have on its own, however it makes for a perfect pair with Grilled white meats, quiches and onion pies, salad, meat pie, cheeses with a bloomy rind and even rich dishes with spice.
The Bott-Geyl estate was born from a meeting, that of two winegrowing families who had long been established in the heart of the Alsatian vineyards. Settled between Colmar and Riquewihr, the destinies linked to the world of wine have followed one another, crossed, intertwined and of course united. Today, the Domaine owns 18 hectares including 6 Grands Crus, 3 Lieux-Dits and 1 historic cru. Current winemaker Jean-Christophe was named "Winemaker of the Year" by the famous Gault & Millau guide, after only three vintages. He continues without derogating from the philosophy of his ancestors: high standards, precision and perseverance.
Concerned about highlighting a know-how that respects nature, the ecosystem and in a desire to preserve the raw material, Jean-Christophe lets the natural processes take place. Like an artist who works and transforms the material without ever mastering it, he leaves its place while sublimating it to promote the expression of the great terroirs in his wines. By investing in rigorous work, Jean-Christophe committed to organic farming (2000) and then took the step to biodynamics (2002) with the sustainability and preservation of his vineyard always in his heart.
