Domaine Long-Depaquit Chablis Grand Cru
Exquisite and opulent Chablis Grand Cru. Named for the soil it is grown on
Within the house of Albert Bichot, Domaine Long-Depaquit is well known for its careful selection of Chablis styles. Château Long-Depaquit sits at the centre of the village of Chablis, surrounded by a rose garden. The approach is to limit grape yields in the vineyard, intervention and oak in the winery to develop wines with purity and focus on expression of the individual plots. The winery was modernised in 2014, leading to reduced environmental impact and a step up in quality.
Located at the eastern edge of the Grand Crus hill, "Les Blanchots" derives its name from the stony soil that is composed of whitish limestone and light-coloured calcareous clay subsoil. Their plot lies on a very steep slope in the coolest part of this Domaine, which lends the wine its vivacity and finesse.
Exquisite scents of white flowers (lily, rose) dominate on the nose. The palate is full-bodied and generous, featuring remarkable harmony and a pronounced mineral finish that is complemented by a hint of iodine and smoke (flint, graphite).
