Gizella Furmint Harslevelu Estate White

A Hungarian blend highlighting the beauty of dry Tokaji wines

A blend of three villages and eight vineyards of Furmint and Harslevelu fruit, picked from vines between five and 50 years' old and then whole bunch pressed and fermented in stainless steel. The wine is 53% Harslevelu, a rounded, honeyed and floral variety and 47% Furmint, renowned for its fresh acidity and orchard fruit notes. This is a fine example of Harslevelu and Furmint in their pure, raw form, and a brilliant expression of Tokaj terroir.

The Gizella Winery is located at the edge of the Tokaj town. László Szilágyi, owner and winemaker, produces extraordinary dry and sweet Tokaji wines. Gizella Winery is named after winemaker and owner László Szilágyi’s grandmother. Laszló took the helm of the family winery in 2005 and has really focused on making clean and elegant wines, which are sort after in Hungary. Gizella’s estate is 19 hectares, spread among 12 vineyards in Tarcal, Bodrogkeresztúr, and Mád. He has also been working to reconstruct some of his old, terraced vineyards.

A crisp and easy-to-drink wine. With an elegant nose of white flowers and pear. Its soft—but structured. The palate shows the classical dry Tokaj style, refreshing acidity balanced by the lightest touch of sweetness, minerality, and freshness.
