Heymann Lowenstein Schieferterrassen in rot
A combination of tradition and innovation goes into this Mosel Pinot. Fruity, elegant and perfect for aging
The winery is in the municipality of Winningen on the terraced Mosel near the city of Koblenz. It was founded in 1980 by Reinhard Löwenstein and his wife Cornelia Heymann-Löwenstein and developed into an outstanding quality company. In the meantime, the 14th generation has been handed over to Sarah Löwenstein.
Heymann Lowenstein cultivate exclusively on the steep slopes on the Mosel terraces, which requires a lot of meticulous work. Instead of mechanisation, they have craftsmanship. With heart, hand and intellect, each member of their large international team works in unison. For them, sustainability means the constant search for balance in ecological, economic and social aspects of viticulture.
Grown on small steep terraced vineyards, the wine of each plot, even of each terrace, tastes a little different. Schieferterrassen in Rot is Pinot Noir par excellence. Showing a lovely backdrop of floral notes comparable to Alsatian Pinot`s this wine burst forward with a beautiful combination of red fruits, cherry and hints of earthy spice. The palate is refreshing and dry with fine tannins. The wine can be enjoyed now but will only get better with age
All wines made by are Heymann Lowenstein aged in large wooden barrels, exclusively with wild yeasts and without any enzymes or fining agents.
