Holden Manz Rothko Rose

High quality Provençal style rose from one of South Africa’s best

Holden Manz Wine Estate, known as Franschhoek's hidden gem, is in the southernmost corner of the stunningly beautiful Franschhoek Valley. The 22-hectare estate is owned by the Anglo-German Holden-Manz family since 2010. 75kW of solar panels provide electricity and a 40,000-litre roof water collection system supplements the underground water supply.

The crew are meticulous in their approach to winemaking and their modern winery is purpose built for such attention to detail. Holden Manz favour small, micro-fermentations, so that they can control each batch of fruit that comes through their beautiful winery doors. Winemaking responsibilities sit with Thierry Haberer who is no stranger to high-end quality production. A stint in Napa, California and time spent with winemaking legend Michel Rolland have given Haberer all the tools he needs to craft some of South Africa's most premium and sought after wines.

Delicate, floral perfumed rose petals. Cerise blanches and grapefruit. The palate is generous, crisp, with a full mouth feel. Smooth, creamy and elegant, this wine has tonnes of finesse and a long finish. the wine is made in true Provençal style. Dry and fruit driven, the wine is made from 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Cinsault. Whole bunch pressed under dry ice; average skin contact time is less than 3 hours. This maximises the extraction of fruit flavours while minimizing colour transfer.
