Huia Riesling
Delightfully fresh and concentrated organic Riesling
Racy acidity tempered with a tiny amount of residual sugar placing this wine very much in the dry style. Lemon zest, pie crust, granny smith apple and daffodils lead to a flinty, mineral finish.
Huia Estate began as an idea in 1990 and the vines that current wine is made from were planted in 1996. From the beginning they have had an approach to emphasise environmental sustainability and organics.
The vineyard is in Marlborough's Rapaura district; a site close to the Wairau River and is very much in the lee of the Richmond Range.
The organic and biodynamic wines from the New Zealand based Huia Vineyards are great examples that reflect the richness of the vines cultivated in the Marlborough region. This wine label was established in 1996 and has been following sustainable farming and winemaking techniques since then.
You will not see any pesticides, insecticides, or herbicides being used in the vineyards to retain the natural flavours of the fruits. Wild yeasts are used for the fermentation process and sustainability is always given 100% importance. As part of their sustainable winegrowing initiatives, Huia Vineyards set up the Mana Winegrowers Collective, which consists of a group of organic wine growers.
