Idun Nuit Eternelle
A complex and refined cool-climate Syrah.
From the cooler climate region of Elgin, South Africa, the Idun 'Nuit Eternelle' is a complex and elegant expression of Syrah.
A complex, savoury nose filled with black olives, dark cherries and white pepper. More blackberries and black cherries on the palate with ripe, round tannins and an elegant finish.
A blend of grapes from 3 vineyard sites, fermented using indigenous yeasts in open top fermenters before being aged for around 16 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which were new.
Idun is a small, boutique winery run by a French-Danish family originating from Mauritius. They produce excellent varietals which are well-balanced, concentrated, and elegant. They produce mightily impressive, French-inspired wines which you would no doubt pay a lot more for if the grapes were from France.
