Koshava Gamza
A beautiful Bulgarian blend of Gamza and Cabernet Franc.
The Gamza and Cabernet Franc grapes are sourced from a single vineyard in North West Bulgaria on the shore of the Danube River, at just 35-50 metres, where the climate is temperate continental. Fermentation and maceration take place is stainless steel at controlled temperatures.
Gamza is the Bulgarian name for Kadarka - a thin skinned difficult to grow grape that when carefully handled can produce pale-coloured chillable crunchy red wines such as this. The wine itself is pale with an attractive garnet colour, with notes of strawberries, raspberries and attractive warm spice. On the light-bodied pallet there is good fresh acidity and barely perceptible tannins to go with the red berry fruit. A good match for dishes with tomato and paprika such as Goulash, or spicy Asian foods.
In 2013, in the times of the modern Bulgarian state, the Bononia estate began its revival, this time as a winery using modern technologies integrated by a family of people who are passionate about their country and determined to start and grow their business here.
