Langham Estate Blanc de Blancs Reserve

Elegant, energetic English Blanc de Blancs.

A really beautiful Chardonnay based sparkling wine from Dorset, aged in the bottle for 18 months. Fantastic sparkling wine for food, this style of English sparkling seems to perfectly balance the richness of lees ageing with the crisp, orchard acidity that English grapes naturally produce.

On the nose, a tense balance between ripe green apple and conference pear, white flowers and intense graphite minerality. The palate is delicate yet weighty in texture, with soft ripe pear, honeydew melon and white grapefruit acidity, finishing with a trademark saline nuttiness.

All Langham Estate wines are made using grapes grown at their single site in rural Dorset. The Crawthorne vineyard consists of 12 hectares planted solely with the classic Champagne varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The site was carefully selected for its south facing slope and free-draining chalk subsoil. A long growing season and considerate viticulture ensures they harvest the finest grapes possible.

Langham Wine Estate

Langham Wine Estate

The first incarnation of the Langham vineyard was originally established by John Langham as a hobby at Bingham’s Melcombe, a Grade I listed manor house at the heart of the estate. In 2009 John’s son, Justin, decided to develop his father’s idea into a commercial venture, and planted 30 acres of vines a few miles down the road at Crawthorne Farm.

With a south-facing aspect, chalk soils and a unique microclimate, Crawthorne Vineyard provides the perfect terroir for ripening the classic Champagne varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. All the grapes are handpicked, and rigorous vineyard selection ensures only the highest quality grapes arrive at the winery.

Langham pride themselves in crafting terroir-driven sparkling wines using grapes only grown in their Dorset vineyard. Taking a low-intervention approach to both grape growing and wine production, they constantly strive to minimise environmental impact and produce honest wines that reflect their terroir.  Without fining or filtration, all Langham wines are vegan friendly.
