Lomond Phantom Pinot Noir

A perfumed and light Pinot Noir, enjoyable all year round.

Fragrant aromas of rose petals and oriental spice lead to notes of wild, red berries and an appealing earthy complexity. Elegant, with beautifully integrated oak, refined tannins, and a long, silky finish.

Lomond vineyards contain a variety of soils, and their Pinot Noir vines are planted across 18 different types, this creates a unique and complex blend of flavours. The terroir, climate and location of Lomond combine to create superb single-vineyard wines. Additionally, the winery is committed to sustainability and is a member of quite a few of South Africa's sustainability groups and initiatives.

The estate is located in the Cape Agulhas appellation of origin. Altitudes vary, with some blocks at 50 metres above sea level, while others are located around 100 metres’ elevation, with an unhindered exposure to the sea. This aspect ensures that these vines are cooled during the summer months by the prevailing winds from the sea. This cool microclimate creates a slow ripening period, allowing the grapes to build flavour complexity and to produce naturally balanced wines.

This Pinot offers a wonderful palate at a great price, perfect with or without food.

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is a red grape variety and a style of red wine that is typically light to medium-bodied, fruit-forward, and relatively low alcohol compared to other red wines. With its higher acidity and lower tannin, Pinot Noirs are very versatile when it comes to food pairing. The red grapes can also be used to make white, rosé and sparkling wine (Blanc de Noirs).

Originally from Burgundy, the thin-skinned Pinot Noir grape is notoriously hard to grow, demanding optimum growing conditions and favouring cooler, coastal climates.

While many experts still consider the best Pinots to come from Burgundy, it is grown in regions around the world, including Oregon, California, New Zealand, Australia, Chile, France, Spain, Germany, and Italy. The wine's diverse geographical range means that you might also find it labelled as Red Burgundy, Pinot Nero, Blauburgunder, or Spätburgunder.
