Maxamin Grunhaus Schloss Riesling
A beautifully fresh and classical Mosel Riesling from a VDP producer
This Gutswein Riesling shows its origin on the nose: mineral notes of wet stone, fine playful herbal nuances, floral accents and a Ruwer-typical Riesling fruit of white peach, green apples and pears. On the palate, the Riesling is very aromatic. Floral and fruity with a present acidity and spiciness. Citrus fruits such as lime and white grapefruit dominate, but there are also riper yellow fruits such as quince. A green-herbaceous spice, racy slate, minerality and saltiness characterize this wine. What remains is a juicy mouthfeel, carried by its animating acidity.
Not only a beautiful everyday wine, but also the perfect accompaniment to asparagus, pork dishes and spicy foods. Maximin Grunhaus have been members of the VDP since 2016.
A vineyard with a history dating back to the romans. Taking its name from the Benedictine Abbey the vineyard was donated to (St. Maximin in Trier), this vineyard was taken over by the Schubert family in 1882 and have made it into the success it is today. Currently run by the 6th generation wine maker Maximin Schubert (named after the vineyard), the wines made here sing with a beautiful and elegant complexity that makes for a satisfying Riesling.
