Palacio del Camino Real Rioja Crianza

One of the best-value wines in our portfolio.

Palacio del Camino Real Rioja Crianza is a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha, along with a splash of Graciano.

These classic Rioja wines come from the young and dynamic team. The wines are a great mix of classic style with modern accessibility. All the wines at Palacio del Camino de Real share something in common: grapes from the best wine regions of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, in the heart of La Rioja Alta, (the birthplace of the Rioja winegrowing tradition where the best old Tempranillo vineyards can be found) and the dedication with which their winemakers work the vineyard and the affection that our winemakers devote to the production of each wine.

Generous strawberry, raspberry and plum fruits are woven skilfully with vanilla and spice, thanks to some time in oak. In fact, this wine has been aged for 18 months in barrel, which is longer than the minimum requirement for a Rioja Crianza.

There's a little complexity with some coffee and balsamic notes, but ultimately it is smooth, fruity and incredibly easy drinking.

Rioja Classification

Rioja Classification

There are four labelling terms that are used to reflect the style and quality of wines throughout Rioja DOCa, reflecting the legal minimum ageing criteria.

Joven/Genérico: Young and fruity, with no minimum ageing requirements, typically released in the year following the vintage. You don’t often see Joven on labels today, simply labelling the wine Rioja is much more commonplace.

Crianza: Must be aged in oak barrels prior to release. Crianza wines have fresh fruit flavours laced with vanilla and hints of spice.

Reserva: Aged for extended periods of time before release, both in oak and in-bottle. Reserva wines are more structured and fuller-bodied. Fresh fruit flavours become cooked and spices become more pronounced.

Gran Reserva: Only made in exceptional years and comprised of grapes from the very best vineyards, Gran Reserva wines are subject to the highest minimum ageing requirements. Elegant and complex, the reds have rich dried fruit flavours and notes of leather.
