Panizzi Vernaccia di San Gimignano
A historical style Italian White wine. Aromatic and fresh.
With its moderate aromatics, ranging from fresh white citrus to fleshy orchard fruit with floral touches, Vernaccia di San Gimignano has a trademark mineral edge, which evolves to a distinct flintiness with age. Aromas slowly reveal a more honeyed, nutty character over time. Its elegance and structure integrate well.
Panizzi is born with the first vintage of this wine, in 1989. Produced from grapes originating from the totality of the winery’s vineyards (Larniano, Montagnana, Santa Margherita, Lazzeretto) Vernaccia Panizzi is the modern interpretation of an ancient wine full of history. Panizzi has long been one of the leading producers of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, having championed the variety and the appellation since its foundation.
Panizzi practice organic and sustainable farming. Their production protocols are all based on respect for the consumer and the environment. No chemical fertilizers, herbicides or harmful pesticides are used, while they make use of green manure and residual bio masses from harvest. Extreme importance is given to the age of the vines. Letting them grow according to their natural rhythms, they reach much more advanced ages, spreading roots in depth. Stewardship of human resources is also of prime importance; they adopt hands-on vine tending and have very limited use of mechanical means. Starting with 2020 vintage all their vineyards are 100% organically certified.
