Roger Goulart Gran Reserva
Pioneers in the production of long-aged sparkling wines, this is high class Cava from Catalonia.
Roger Goulart is located in Sant Esteve Sesrovires, a little village in the Alt Penedès, where they have 20 hectares of vines. Founded in 1882, producing only Cava, this was one of the first wineries to make traditional method sparkling wines in the region.
The Cuvée Gran Reserva is made with the classic Cava grape varieties; Xarel-lo, Macabeo and Parellada, with Xarel-lo taking up the main bulk of the blend. Aged for 60 months, far longer than the legal minimum of 30 months, the wine benefits from longer contact and interaction with the yeast (lees), giving more complexity and character.
Goulart’s wines rest in their underground caves and are only disgorged to order, which ensures these sparkling wines are fresh and perfect for ageing.
Pale with golden highlights, it has an intense aroma of ripe apple and peach with a touch of fennel. Full and creamy on the palate, there are patisserie and yeasty notes with a delicate floral element. A good hit of acidity provides a refreshing and lasting finish.
