San Marzano TALO Verdeca
Rich, creamy oaked Puglian white.
The San Marzano co-operative have made top quality wines from Puglian native grapes for many years. Talò, a surname, to collectively thank the farmers of San Marzano who, with their families, look after each vineyard as if it were their own garden. Talò makes wines from a collection of different varieties. They are fully community driven!
A curious wine. We were not sure what to expect when we got this in, however, we have sort of fallen for it. Verdeca is a rarely seen variety which ripens late, beneficial in as hot a climate as Puglia. The result is a wine with fresh acidity and, at least in part because of three months barrel ageing, a rich creaminess that makes this a very flexible wine. With a robe of Straw yellow and golden reflections, intense aromas of white flowers and vanilla dominate the nose.
