Brandy seems to have fallen out of favour in recent years, without doing a great deal to deserve it. Its traditional home remains the famous French regions of Cognac and Armagnac, producing a more elegant or 'characterful' style respectively. Spain retains a tradition for brandy production, particularly in the southern region of Jerez, while Peru and Chile are famed for the Muscat grape based Pisco brandy, traditional in the Pisco sour cocktail.
