Susana Balbo Brioso
Amazing Cabernet Sauvignon from and amazing winemaker
Vibrant ruby red with aromas of dark berries and spices. Lively acidity complements the rich fruit flavours, while other varieties enhance texture. Elegant and lingering finish. Perfect with rich and gamey meats such as venison and baby goat, duck and rabbit.
The grapes are hand-harvested with a double selection process to ensure their quality. Destemming prior to fermentation at 31°C, with wild yeasts. Pump-overs and delestage three times a day, the grapes undergo extended maceration for 35 days post fermentation to increase colour and tannic extraction
Susana was Argentina's first female winemaker and has led the way for many others to follow. She was awarded the International Wine Challenge's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022 and continues to run her successful winery in Mendoza with the help of her two children. She has certainly pioneered a lot of the changes in the wine world in Argentina, and the Argentine wine scene is a lot better for it. She makes a large range of decent quality wines and several high-end exceptional ones. This Signature Malbec sums up what she is all about in one bottle!
Her winemaking team focuses on a work philosophy that combines a deep knowledge of Argentina’s best soils, an endless curiosity and passion for art and science behind winemaking abilities, and a strong commitment to sustainable practices
