Tabali Micas Carmenere

Deeply fruited, full of blackcurrant, green pepper and spice.

Established in 2002, Tabali is an iconic winery situated in Limari, one of the northernmost vineyard regions in Chile. They are the only winery that produces wines that cross Chile from east to west in the same valley, from high up in the Andes down to the fog blanketed vineyards by the Pacific Ocean.

A little like Malbec is for Argentina, Carmenère is considered the signature grape of Chile. This is an elegant and intense example from the Micas vineyard, Cachapoal, which is over 70 years old and regarded as one of the best in Chile for Carmenère.

Full bodied with smooth tannins, this has concentrated black fruit, notes of all spice and green bell pepper. It’s complex but classy, and its vibrant acidity ensures a long persistent finish. A warming wine for the colder months, though it’s silky enough to drink all-year-round. It makes an ideal partner to chilli con carne, a hearty stew, or jalapeño heavy tacos.
