Zuccardi Apelacion Cabernet Franc
A fabulous new world style Cabernet Franc. Combining an intense depth of flavour with an incredible freshness.
Since its conception in 1963, Zuccardi has been one of Argentina`s pioneering wineries. The estate continues to be so in the safe hands of the third generation with Sebastián Zuccardi, who has inherited the same determination and desire to create world-class wines. From selected vineyards in Paraje Altamira and the wider Uco Valley. Both displaying a distinct terroir which has a brilliant soil and climate. The region is also home to some of Argentina’s top wine producers. In particular, the Uco Valley has received an unprecedented amount of investment as wine tourism has increased and has become key to the region.
The wine makers aim to harvest each region, variety and soil type at the peak physiological ripeness. The cooler temperatures of the region allow for a slower ripening period which means the grapes retain an incredible freshness. Wines undergo fermentation with native yeasts in concrete vats filled by gravity, in this way the wines retain their varietal character and are made with minimal intervention. Skin maceration occurs for twenty days to ensure a beautiful depth of colour and extraction of tannins and flavours from the skins. Aged in large French barrels, this helps to soften the wines acidity and tannins to make a more balanced style without imparting too much secondary oak characteristics. As such, the wine is ruby red in colour with firm tannins.
Amazing fresh fruit aromas of cherry and raspberry with notes of tobacco leaf and liquorice spice. Combined with a lush acidity and a long finish. A wonderful display of the style and quality of the Cabernet Franc grape, It can be consumed now but will age beautifully for several years.
